Scotty's House is the Child Advocacy Center of the Brazos Valley. Founded in 1995, it is our mission to provide services to abused children and their families, which bring comfort in times of crisis and lay a foundation for a healthy future.

2014 Child Abuse Prevention Month List of Events2014 Child Abuse Prevention Month List of Events

April is recognized nationally as Child Abuse Prevention Month, and once again Scotty’s House Child Advocacy Center will partner with local law enforcement and child service agencies to raise awareness of the serious problem of child abuse and neglect in our community. In addition to the following events, we will also have month-long book displays at both local libraries (Larry J. Ringer Library in College Station and Clara B. Mounce Library in Bryan). Please mark your calendars and join us for these events:

Friday, March 28th
10:00am Pinwheel Garden
Scotty’s House and Voices for Children (CASA), along with representatives from Kappa Alpha Theta, will “plant” the fifth annual Pinwheel Garden on the lawn at Prosperity Bank, located at 2807 S. Texas Ave. in Bryan. Eight hundred pinwheels will be planted in honor of the more than 800 child victims of abuse and neglect in the Brazos Valley in 2013. The Pinwheel Garden will remain planted during the month of April.

Tuesday, April 1st
11:00am Madison County Blue Ribbon Tree
The Madison County Blue Ribbon Tree will be dedicated at 11:00am at the Madison County Courthouse in Madisonville. A reception following the tree dedication ceremony will be held from 11:30am – Noon in the County Courtroom at the Madison County Courthouse.

1:00pm Leon County Blue Ribbon Tree
The Leon County Blue Ribbon Tree will be dedicated at 1:00pm at the Leon County Courthouse in Centerville. A reception following the tree dedication ceremony will be held from 1:30 – 2:00pm at the gazebo at the Leon County Courthouse.

3:00pm Robertson County Blue Ribbon Tree
The Robertson County Blue Ribbon Tree will be dedicated at 3:00pm at the Robertson County Courthouse in Franklin. A reception following the tree dedication ceremony will be held from 3:30 – 4:00pm at the Robertson County Courthouse. Exact location will be announced at the dedication ceremony.

Wednesday, April 2nd
11:00am Washington County Blue Ribbon Tree
The Washington County Blue Ribbon Tree will be dedicated at 11:00am at the Washington County Courthouse in Brenham. A reception following the tree dedication ceremony will be held from 11:30am - Noon at the Washington County Courthouse Annex.

1:00pm Burleson County Blue Ribbon Tree
The Burleson County Blue Ribbon Tree will be dedicated at 1:00pm at the Burleson County Courthouse in Caldwell. A reception following the tree dedication ceremony will be held from 1:30 – 2:00pm. Exact location will be announced at the dedication ceremony.

Thursday, April 3rd
10:00am Grimes County Blue Ribbon Tree
The Grimes County Blue Ribbon Tree will be dedicated at 10:00am at the Grimes County Courthouse Annex in Anderson. A reception following the tree dedication ceremony will be held from 10:30 – 11:00am in the Grimes County Annex building.

Friday, April 4th
10:00am Brazos County Blue Ribbon Tree
The Brazos County Blue Ribbon Tree will be dedicated at 10:00am at the College Station Police Department. A reception following the tree dedication ceremony will be held from 10:30 – 11:00am at CSPD.

Saturday, April 12th
9:00am Rock the CASA 5K
The Kappa Alpha Theta’s will hold their annual 5k with 100% of proceeds going to Scotty’s House and Voices for Children. The public is encouraged to run, walk, bike, play, rollerblade, etc. and help the Theta’s reach their goal. For more info, please visit http://www.theta5k.webs.com/

11:00am St. Joseph Pediatric Safety Circus
The St. Joseph Pediatrics Safety Circus is a community based event to engage elementary school children and their families in learning how to keep themselves and their environment safe. Visit spectacular booths (like the Scotty’s House booth), see entertaining demonstrations, play games, win prizes, register for giveaways and door prizes! Plus, bring your bicycle and helmet and participate in the incredible bike rodeo featuring free bike safety inspections and fun bike riding games! The Safety Circus will be held in the St. Joseph College Station Medical Office Building Parking Lot off Highway 6 from 11:00am – 2:00pm. Admission is FREE.
